There is often confusion among medical staff members, and even administrators, regarding the terms "credentialing" and "credentials verification."
Medical staff professionals and other credentialing specialists know well that credentials verification is only one aspect of the full credentialing process. Credentials verification is the process of determining whether a practitioner's credentials are authentic. Credentialing, on the other hand, refers to the overall process of gathering and verifying information, reviewing the information, and determining whether to grant or deny medical staff membership.
